THis is the original video, but its been paired with the version off of the GNR Live album, so Axl Rose’s lip synching is way off. Still a good video and great song.

GNR Live at the Ritz, New York City, 1988. Watch Axl Rose stage dive at the end of the song and get his shirt torn off. He has to brawl a bit to get back on stage.

In case you didn’t know it the sound byte before the song is from the movie Cool Hand Luke starring Paul Newman, a guy sent to a work prison camp for the crime of destroying public propert (parking meters). He tries repeatedly to escape the camp, and the Warden/Sheriff delivers the infamous line: “What we have here is failure to communicate.”

Great song and it works nicely with this video.. except the video is World War II (Saving Private Ryan) not the Civil War. Nonetheless it captures the sheer brutality of warfare which does not benefit the common man.
